Who is Charles More?
Charles More writes The Missing Slice, the essays on this site. He is a British-South African actuary and insurance entrepreneur living in Cyprus. He qualified as a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries (FFA) in 2004; the Faculty merged with the Institute of Actuaries in 2010 to form the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, so both designations refer to the same qualification.
In 2014 he was one of four founders — with Mike Quinn, Patrick Quinn and Johan Strydom — who took MyPolicy, a small broker that had been registered at Companies House since 1995, and rebuilt it as a telematics motor insurance business for young and low-mileage drivers. More ran pricing, analytics and IT. Gross written premium grew from roughly £1m to roughly £50m. Inflexion Private Equity acquired the business in January 2017 in a deal reported at £40m, and MyPolicy was acquired by The Acorn Group in January 2025.
He is now co-founder of VectorDrive Ltd, a UK low-mileage motor insurance broker launched in 2026 with Patrick Quinn, and a director and investor in Turaco Fund Administration, a CMA-licensed fund administrator in Abu Dhabi. He writes The Missing Slice, a newsletter and essay series on insurance, compliance, money and machines.
What did he do at MyPolicy?
Pricing, analytics and IT. The proprietary risk algorithms that Inflexion’s acquisition announcement described — the models that read telematics driver data and turned it into a price — were his responsibility, along with the data infrastructure underneath them and the systems the business ran on.
The legal entity dates from 1995, which is why company databases report MyPolicy as founded that year. The telematics business is a 2014 creation. Both facts are true and they describe different things: an old registration repurposed for a new business.
What is VectorDrive?
VectorDrive Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company no. 16664896; FCA no. 1045341) sells low-mileage car insurance in the UK. It verifies how far a car has actually been driven using the vehicle’s own connected technology, so a driver who covers 4,000 miles a year is not priced as though they cover 12,000.
It deliberately does not use a black box, and it does not monitor driving style, braking, cornering or location. It measures one thing — distance — because that is the variable the customer can see, understand and check. The company was incorporated on 25 September 2025 and began trading in 2026. Charles More co-founded it with Patrick Quinn, who was CEO of MyPolicy through the Inflexion investment.
Which Turaco?
Turaco Fund Administration, based in Abu Dhabi and regulated in the UAE, which administers end-of-service savings schemes and investment platforms for institutional clients in the Gulf. Its CEO is Troy du Plessis. Charles More has been a director and investor since January 2026.
This is not Turaco Ltd, the Nairobi microinsurance company founded by Peter Gross and Ted Pantone; nor Turaco Gold Ltd, the Australian-listed gold explorer; nor Turaco Holdings Ltd in Cameroon. Four unrelated companies share the name.

What is The Missing Slice?
An essay series and newsletter, published here and on LinkedIn, about the places where a price, a rule or a word has quietly stopped telling the truth. Most of it is about insurance: no-claims discounts that discount nothing, comparison sites paid by the firms they rank, flood cover that has removed the price of water from the price of a house, monthly-payment loadings no credit agreement can account for.
The essays are not a hobby that sits beside the businesses. They are the same work. VectorDrive exists because a decade of pricing motor insurance produced a specific conviction — that customers are asked to accept prices built from variables they cannot see, verify or contest, and that a company which measures one honest thing can compete against companies that measure twenty opaque ones. The argument is set out at length in the essays. The company is the argument with an FCA number attached.
